Waste management


The Community of Communes provides household waste collection services throughout its territory. Household waste is collected and processed by service providers under public contracts. It also operates 2 waste collection centres, one in Courtomer and the other in Le Mêle-sur-Sarthe.

The waste collection centres are closed on 24 and 31 December.
The Communauté de Communes has installed new signage at the waste collection centres in Le Mêle sur Sarthe and Courtomer, and information panels have been put up at all the waste collection sites in the area:
New stickers will gradually be affixed to the sorting bins.
As part of this project, the VHS CC has also developed a number of communication tools to support you : a magnetic sorting memo for everyday use, a sorting ruler for more specific waste, and a flyer listing best practices for saving energy and reducing our impact on the environment.

Location of collection points
How do you buy your composter ?
To get your composter at a reduced price, you can fill in the online pre-order form (https://forms.gle/UWWWSLPwfKKLMrQG6), or come and ask for one at the Town Hall, the Courtomer post office or the Le Mêle-sur-Sarthe Tourist Office. Each household can purchase a composter, up to a limit of 300 available.
Terms of payment
- By cheque : made payable to ‘CC Vallée Haute Sarthe Ordures ménagères’, to be sent by post to the administrative centre of the CC VHS, or handed in at the reception of the communauté de communes.
- In cash : to be given in person only to the administrator of the VHS CC administrative centre.

Information sessions will be held in the spring in Courtomer and Le Mêle-sur-Sarthe to guide you through the composting process, answer any questions you may have, and hand out compost bins.

This voluntary drop-off point provides a ‘1 for 0’ take-back service and accepts photovoltaic panels held by professionals and private individuals.
